2024 GARNACHA

aka Grenache

Sawtooth Vineyard, Block 70
Cases Produced: 117 cases

Winemaker Note:
This is our fourth vintage from Sawtooth Vineyard’s Block 70 Garnacha and a surprisingly bold expression. The fruit was harvested on October 10, 2024, with a small saignée used to concentrate the must and a portion of juice set aside for rosé. Fermentation was split between conventional and native yeast to build structure while preserving site character.
The wine was aged for 10 months in 40% new French oak, 40% second-fill French oak, and 20% neutral larger-format barrels.

Tasting:

This vintage leans bigger and more powerful than a typical Grenache, with an immediate burst of ripe red fruit and layered spice. Strawberry, cherry, and dried herbs come through clearly, backed by a richer mouthfeel and a touch of warmth from the alcohol. There’s a depth here that pushes it closer to a fuller-bodied expression, reminiscent of our highly awarded 2021 vintage, while still holding onto that classic Garnacha brightness.

Pairing:
This is a great match for bold, flavor-driven dishes—grilled pork, lamb, or anything with Mediterranean herbs like thyme and oregano. It handles spice well, making it a natural with dishes like chorizo, paella, or even al pastor. On a simpler night, it’s perfect with pizza, tomato-based pastas, or anything coming off the grill with a little char.
