Harvest and Production

Le Compère is built from four Snake River Valley vineyards, all hand-harvested between September 30 and October 26. Merlot came in first from Bennett Vineyard followed by Syrah from both Skyline and Bennett, and finally Carménère from Kerry Hill and Barbera from Clay Peak.

Fermentation was a mix of wild and conventional yeast in open top fermentation bins. The wine was aged for 11 months in a combination of new French (15%), new American (15%), second-fill, and neutral barrels. Each component brings something distinct—Merlot for structure, Carménère for spice and lift, Syrah for depth, and Barbera to brighten the finish.

Blend: 41% Merlot, 31% Carménère, 21% Syrah (Bennett + Skyline), 7% Barbera

Cases: 125

Tasting Notes

Dark fruit first—black cherry, plum, and a little blueberry—followed by dried herbs, subtle green peppercorn from the Carménère, and warm spice from the oak. The palate is medium-full with good energy: ripe fruit, focused acidity, and a finish that tightens up with fine tannin. Balanced, expressive, and layered without feeling heavy.
